This Sustainability Education Research Seminar will provide us with the opportunity to explore how ideas about reflexivity and sustainability can intersect – a key theme within Stephen Allen’s research over the last seven years.
Through various collaborations Stephen has been involved in writing empirical and conceptual articles (published and in process) which come into conversation with debates about: reflexive practice, writing reflexively, managerial identity, socio-materiality and alternative ways of managing and organising. This seminar will offer insights from different pieces of this work that will inform some suggestions about the potential implications for learning and educating.
About the speaker
Stephen Allen is a Lecturer in the Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management Group at Hull University Business School. Prior to working at the University of Hull he was a Lecturer in the Department of Management Learning and Leadership at Lancaster University where he completed his PhD in 2012. His work experiences before starting a career in academia involved being employed by a range of organisations from a new business start-up to large international companies. By working at the intersections of ideas about reflexivity, sustainability and leadership his research explores how we make sense of and take action for sustainability.
This event is aimed primarily at Plymouth University staff and students. Drinks will be provided so please book your place by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
