Held for the first time in 2008, European Maritime Day (EMD) is a prestigious event hosted by a different country each year. The 2017 event will be held in Poole, Dorset.
The conference is the heart of the project, bringing together around 1,000 industry leaders and policy makers including ministers, EU Commissioners, MPs and MEPs, academics, scientists and maritime experts.
This year, the conference title will be 'Future of our Seas' with the following themes to be debated:
- Innovation and growth
- People and skills
- Safety and security
- Sustainability and governance.
Plymouth University's Marine Institute will be participating in the matchmaking event on Friday as part of the networking session by participants.
