Crossrail is unique in having three signalling systems on board the train: Legacy AWS/TPWS, ETCS and CBTC.
The new class 345 crossrail trains have already entered service in the eastern section with legacy AWS/TPWS protection. The next stage is ETCS, and then finally CBTC through the tunnel.
This talk by Tom Godfrey from Bombardier Transportation, will provide an overview of the project from a signalling perspective, including the current status and some insights into the challenges and and how they are being overcome.
