Devonport Guildhall is proud to welcome Wurlitza and their latest film scoring soundtrack which was premiered at the recent Port Eliot Festival in Cornwall.
Wurlitza is a five piece band from South East Cornwall who compose and perform musical accompaniment to silent films. Wurlitza will be playing their latest carefully crafted live soundtrack to an eager audience to accompany the GW Pabst's silent film from 1929, Diary of a Lost Girl.
Prepare to be enraptured, shocked, and impressed. Diary of a Lost Girl is a fast-paced and at times shocking drama, with some great comedic moments, which tells the story of Thymian (played by the mesmerising screen idol Louise Brookes), and delves into her innocence, lightness, her darkness and her hope. The film includes comedic and joyous moments, demonstrating happiness can come at the oddest of times.
The film premiered at this year's Port Eliot festival to a very captivated audience, and has since gone on to receive critical acclaim across Cornwall. Wurlitza’s soundtracks are always musical masterpieces, and the musicians always thoughtfully coordinate the music to match the films’ sequences.
Doors open at 19:30 for 20:00 start.
Tickets are £10 each (£8 concessions) and are available at the door but advance booking is encouraged to reserve your place.
Plymouth University works in partnership with Real ideas Organisation and Port Eliot Festival, and is therefore pleased to help promote this event.
