The School of Health Professions are delighted to invite you to their seminar series exploring current and future social and healthcare policy and research co-hosted by the Institute of Health and Community.

The lectures are on every Tuesday evening for five weeks with different topics and invited guest speakers. Each evening has a specific theme with two sessions discussing this.

10 February - theme: Models of dementia care

  • Both sessions: Models of dementia care (speaker: Dr Jos de Block, Executive Director and Founder of Buurtzorg Netherlands)

17 February - theme: Perspectives

  • Session 1: Alzheimer’s disease - society strategies and user perspectives (speaker: tba)
  • Session 2: Perspectives on dementia care policy (speaker: Dr Ian Sherriff, Plymouth University)

24 February - theme: Interventions for dementia

  • Session 1: Technology and dementia (speaker: Professor Ray Jones, Plymouth University)
  • Session 2: Memory matters (speaker: Katie Smith)

3 March - theme: Interventions for dementia

  • Session 1: The VALID study - occupational therapy for people with dementia, families and carers (speaker: Dr J Wenborn, University College London)
  • Session 2: Evaluation of the South Devon Dementia Learning Community (speaker: Professor Catherine Hennessy, Plymouth University)

10 March - theme: Neuropsychology screening and pharmacology

  • Session 1: Neuropsychology of dementia (speaker: Dr R Noad, Consultant Neuropsychologist, Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust - Neuropsychology dementia)
  • Session 2: Pharmacological advances in the treatment of dementia (speaker tba)

Limited free parking will be available on campus but there is plenty of on-street Pay & Display parking near the venue.
