Join Truro and Penwith College, the University of Plymouth and Aerospace Cornwall for a day of drones and data.

From gathering hyperspectral data for mining surveys, delivering post and critical supplies to the Isles of Scilly and identifying endangered species in the jungle using thermal infrared cameras, drones have revolutionised how we use data.

Cornwall is now at the forefront of drone technology. In the past few years alone, over £300k of funding has been allocated to R&D, testing and commercialisation of drones and UAS from Aerospace Cornwall. Across the wider UK, the UAV industry is poised to add £42 billion to the UK's GDP by 2030.

At the conference, delegates can:

  • hear about the latest developments in drone technology from SMEs in Cornwall and the South West
  • engage with panel discussions about the challenges for the drone sector and the skills needed to grow the sector
  • hear about opportunities in drone and satellite data analytics
  • find out about the funding available through Aerospace Cornwall
  • network with industry professionals and academics working in space and aerospace
  • get hands on with practical drone challenges!

Breakout room: Drones, Data and Agriculture - Farming from the Sky

Join this drop-in session demonstrating the University's agri-tech platforms. Find out how drones and data are revolutionising farming from the sky, from remotely operated agri-tech platforms capable of planting, spraying and harvesting crops to creating multi spectral maps of the farm environment. The University has a long track record in robotics and are working closely with companies in the South West to enable the region to be at the forefront of agricultural and technology innovations.

The conference is open to anyone with an interest in drones and data (with a particular focus on the work of SMEs in Cornwall), and those working in the field of drones, UAVs and UAVs, and environmental intelligence. It will also appeal to those interested in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
