Did you study one of our BSc or MRes marine biology degrees, or undertake a PhD with us? If so, on behalf of the School of Biological and Marine Sciences and the Alumni Association, we cordially invite you to join us at a reunion event to meet students and staff from across the years.

In 2017, we will celebrate over 20 years of graduates in marine biology degrees.

We are excited to find out what you, our former students, are up to and to provide an opportunity for you to rekindle friendships and make new connections. We have put together a weekend reunion event with an exciting programme of social activities, subject updates, career networking opportunities and talks from guest speakers. You are very welcome to attend only the elements of the programme that particularly appeal to you, but we hope that you will come along to what promises to be a relaxed and informal celebration!

Our alumni are all over the world and we know that some of you will not be able to make it back to Plymouth for this event. Nevertheless, we would love to keep in touch with you and share memories of the event via video links and social media, so please be sure to complete our quick poll to update your details if you can’t attend.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Plymouth!

Friday 9 June: 17:30 - 19:30 Welcome Reception (venue: Marine Station, Coxside)

Join us for informal networking at our new Marine Station on the shore of Plymouth Sound! The marine biology team will welcome you back to the University and provide an opportunity to catch up with your fellow alumni and former lecturers over drinks and canapes. Once everyone is connected, it’s over to you to for the remainder of the evening, which you have free for drinks and dinner in the Barbican area and to explore your old haunts in Plymouth!

Saturday 10 June: 10:00 – 16:00 Symposium and networking events (venue: Portland Square)

The weekend continues with a symposium featuring short scientific talks and panel discussions about some of the latest developments in marine biology combined with reminiscences from past and present members of the school. We will also have a number of meeting spaces available for cohort groups to meet and to provide opportunities for networking with colleagues old and new to share your experiences of the wide range of career destinations of our alumni. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Sunday 11 June: 11:30 Boat trip to Mount Edgcumbe (departs Barbican Landing stage near Mayflower Steps)

On the Sunday morning there is a final opportunity to come back together to enjoy a trip down memory lane. Be our guests on a reprise of our Induction Week boat trip across Plymouth Sound to Mount Edgcumbe. On arrival, you might like to take part in a rocky shore ramble or enjoy a walk in the Country Park. You can make your own arrangements for lunch in the Orangery or Edgcumbe Arms pub, or maybe organise a picnic. Whatever you decide, you can choose your own time to make your own way back via the Cremyll ferry to Stonehouse.
