Seafaring students from across the UK will meet in Plymouth in a bid to win the 2019 British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Fleet Racing Championships this November.
This year the event will be hosted by the University of Plymouth Students’ Union (UPSU) and the University Sailing Club in partnership with Mount Batten Watersports Centre, Plymouth Youth Sailing and a range of individuals from the Plymouth sailing community.
Around 130 boats will be taking part in two days of racing in the first big competition of the University sailing season.
The event takes place on the weekend of 2 and 3 November from the Mount Batten Watersports Centre. Racing will be in Plymouth Sound starting from around 11:00 each day and spectators are encouraged to view the action from Plymouth Hoe, Mount Batten or Jennycliffe.
As well as proving to be a fun weekend, the event attracts high quality racing in some of the best sailing waters in the country. Supported by student volunteers and other local clubs, this event showcases UPSU and the local community as leaders in marine sports and events.
