Save event

This event is organised by the Plymouth Social Enterprise Network.

Plymouth is the lead partner for ESSE, a trans-European project to develop and promote social enterprise. The project runs until early 2017, but neither the end of the project, nor Brexit itself will deter us from continuing to work with partners who share our social aims and entrepreneurial spirit.

We will hear from Luke Cooper from the campaign group, Another Europe is Possible. Luke is a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at Anglia Ruskin University. He has been involved in numerous global justice campaigns, most recently for refugee rights, and is a frequent contributor to Open Democracy and Red Pepper. He thinks it’s time for a politics beyond the nation state, not for a retreat back into them. Luke will talk about how social purpose organisations are working together across Europe and highlight some of the ways in which social enterprises will be able access European funds post Brexit.

Therese Lundgren from Swedish social enterprise Urkraft is in Plymouth on a social enterprise field trip and will talk about her work and the value of international partnerships.

We'll also hear updates from ESSE about the social enterprise train the trainer programme which is being rolled out in five countries.
