During the late 20th century, artists were commissioned to accompany Britain’s armed forces in conflicts around the world, from the Falklands to Bosnia and the Gulf.
Jayne Buchanan, recipient of the Histories, Memorialisation and Memories Research Studentship in Art History at University of Plymouth, explores the works produced by these artists and considers how they re-frame mass-media narratives of war.
