University staff and students are invited to this sustainability travel event that is taking place across two days.
Wednesday 11 October: Bicycle sale and Dr Bike
BikeSpace join us on campus for a bike sale. BikeSpace is a Bicycle Maintenance Training Workshop based in Devonport, Plymouth. Old and unwanted bikes are recycled, repaired and safety checked and then sold on. Bicycles can be purchased for incredible prices.
Have a bike in need of some TLC? Dr Bike will be on campus to check everything on your bike from wheels, brakes, gears and tyre pressure to lights, racks, pedals, saddles and more. By the end, your bike will feel loved and cared for. Any minor adjustments required can be done to the bike there and then. Anything Dr Bike can't fix on site they will let you know exactly what needs doing and a rough guide to what it should cost at a bike shop.
Checks will take up to 30 minutes.
Thursday 12 October: Bicycle sale, Plymotion and Co-cars
Bicycle sale: there is a second chance to purchase a recycled bicycle with BikeSpace (see details above).
Plymotion in partnership with Plymouth City Council aims to make it easier for you to get around Plymouth by bike, on foot and by bus. Through Plymotion we're offering incentives to encourage you to try greener, cheaper and healthier ways of getting from A to B, including the opportunity to speak to a travel advisor about all the travel options available for the regular journeys you make.
Co-cars is the hire by the hour car club for Exeter and the wider South West for people, communities and organisation. Co-cars run the biggest car club fleet of low emission petrol, hybrid and electric vehicles in the area. It also runs Co-bikes, the UKs first on-street, city electric bike network in Exeter. Their electric cars and electric bikes are powered by renewable energy from Good Energy so all are zero carbon. Their aim is to provide sustainable mobility for all.
Co-cars have two cars based at Plymouth train station.
