Devon & Cornwall IStructE Regional Group is delighted to present a talk by Peter Marsh, Construction Director, Engineering, Marine and Technology at Babcock International Group. 
Peter will describe some of the unexpected challenges of planning, mobilising, managing and delivering construction projects in a variety of locations around the world from the remote Roof of Africa to the most developed cities on the planet.

About the speaker

Peter Marsh is a civil engineer with 40 years’ experience. He is currently Head of SHE and CDM Compliance for Babcock on the Astute Readiness Programme, infrastructure upgrade at Devonport. He has delivered major infrastructure projects across the marine, power, nuclear and transportation sectors leading international teams in all these fields, working throughout the UK and in Africa, the Middle East and Far East during two career spells with the Kier Group and raised his family in Thailand, Dubai, Hong Kong and Cornwall.
Peter is an active member of the construction industry in the South West of England and has been Chairman and Vice-Chairman of CECA (SW) (Civil Engineering Contractors Association South West). He is a member of the University of Plymouth's School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics' Industrial Advisory Committee bringing together practitioners and academics for the benefit of the students.
Peter promotes careers in civil engineering and the wider construction industry amongst secondary schools in the Bournemouth and Poole region where he grew up.
He has been a keen amateur diver since 1976 and has pursued this passion in many locations around the world combined his skills in this field during marine projects in Malawi, Thailand, Dubai and Malaysia whilst working on marine projects in these locations. 
Peter lives in Cornwall with his wife and has three adult children.
