Dr Rosemarie Corlett is a poet and associate lecturer in English and Creative Writing at the University of Plymouth. Her poetry has been published with Poetry Wales, Guardian Faber, IOTA, Lighthouse Journal, Cambridge Scholars Press and others.
Described as a 'startling debut' by author and Times columnist Dr Miriam Darlington , Rosemarie’s collection Flightless Bird, published with Shearsman Books, is a book of poems that explores the plight and place of flightless birds in our imaginations and in the world. Ostriches, emus, great auks and dodos fill the pages, sharing their chronicles of resilience, fetishization, mockery and extinction. New stories also emerge — of disobedience, irreverent women, eroticism and abundance. It's a book about otherness and belonging — a collection of energetic, contemporary poems that seeks to unsettle old stories.
William Telford is a journalist, currently agenda editor at Plymouth Live and The Herald. His byline has also appeared in The Mirror, Western Morning News, When Saturday Comes and other newspapers. His fiction has been published in print and online in a range of publications including Epizootics, Spelk, Flair, Ugly Writers, the Broadsheet, Ink, Short Fiction and more. He has been shortlisted for the Bristol Short Story Prize.
How Love Works is his first collection of short and flash fiction. Published by Waterhare Press, it contains 27 sometimes very short stories. How Love Works tackles love, loss, death, pain, entropy, mental illness, isolation, cats, dinosaurs, intelligent talking apes, and rats flying an airplane, with humanity, humour and hummus. William will be reading from his collection and, perhaps, some new work.
