The 11th National Apprenticeship Week brings together employers and apprentices from across England to celebrate the success of apprenticeships over the last decade and will seek to encourage even more people to choose apprenticeships as a fast-track to a great career.
What is National Apprenticeship Week?
National Apprenticeship Week is co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service and is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and traineeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.
The theme for the #NAW2018 is ‘Apprenticeships Work’, showcasing how apprenticeships work for individuals, employers, the community and the wider economy.
Plymouth will mark National Apprenticeship Week with an inspiring Apprenticeship Jobs Fair organised jointly by Building Plymouth and the Plymouth Manufacturers Group. The event brings together the whole of the manufacturing and engineering sectors alongside the construction industry to reinforce the message that these are great career options for young people in Plymouth and the region.
The event is open to prospective apprentices who are looking to commence employment and training either this year or next, plus (for younger applicants) their parents, guardians and other family members. Prospective apprentices are invited to try their hand at taster activities, demonstrations, sample products, competitions and also meet Plymouth apprentices already working within these dynamic and growing industries.
Degree Apprenticeships: innovation in work-based learning
Launched by the government in March 2015, Degree Apprenticeships offer employers the chance to attract emerging talent, or harness the skills of their current workforce by providing an alternative route to traditional university study. Degree Apprenticeships are a partnership between the employer, the Apprentice, and as the training provider.
The University of Plymouth currently offers two Degree Apprenticeship courses - please visit our stand at this event to find out more.
