You've been made a personal tutor but what does it actually mean?

This workshop provides an introduction to the role and how it can work in practice.

The session begins by examining the University’s policy and guidance for personal tutors, to clarify the nature of the role. We will then explore different models of personal tutoring here and at other universities, to assess how your local work fits the bigger picture. There will be discussion of what works and why, with a particular focus on the value of ‘signposting’ to wider university services.

We hope that by the end of this workshop you will have identified some qualities and skills associated with effective personal tutoring and feel more knowledgeable in delivering this aspect of your role.
