A38 Merafield Road Bridge: Demolition of Existing Bridge
  • Room 018 (Lecture Theatre), Rolle Building, Plymouth University

Save event

The replacement Merafield Road bridge over the A38 has been open since May 2016 and its construction has been designed to minimise disruption to users of this busy stretch of the A38 north of Plymouth. The most recent challenge was to safely and efficiently demolish and remove the original concrete bridge.

As a follow up to April’s presentation of the new bridge, this talk will cover the challenges and solutions for the demolition and removal of the original Merafield bridge, including the planning, liaison, coordination, preparatory works, programme and constraints.
