Registration fees

The early bird discount is included in the delegate rate and will increase by 10% after 25 March 2022. The full delegate registration fee includes entry to the gala dinner and meals/refreshments scheduled in the conference programme. The student delegate registration fee includes meals/refreshments scheduled in the conference programme with an option to book the gala dinner for £60.

Please note accommodation is not included.

Key dates

Accepted papers will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore subject to meeting IEEE Xplore’s scope and quality requirements. We will accept a full paper (6 pages) and an extended abstract (2 pages) as submissions. Extended abstracts will be published as short papers in IEEE Xplore. One author can only register and present a maximum of 3 papers and a £25 discount in registration fees will be provided for 2nd and 3rd papers.

Special Session Proposals  

  • Proposals should be submitted on one A4 page to the Conference Email address: control2022@plymouth.ac.uk. It must include the title, a brief outline, name, and affiliation of the organiser(s).  

Exhibition and Sponsorship

  • Organisations willing to exhibit their control-related works/books/articles are invited to contact the organising committee through email to discuss the terms and necessary arrangements.

The Autonomous Marine Systems (AMS) research group within the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics at the University of Plymouth will be organising the 13th UK Automatic Control Council (UKACC) International Conference on Control (CONTROL2022). The conference was postponed from 6-8 July 2020 and will now take place on 20-22 April 2022.

It will include keynote presentations by internationally renowned researchers, mini-symposiums by UK based institutions and papers from academia and industry covering all core areas of control systems engineering.

About Plymouth

Plymouth is located on the border between Devon and Cornwall on the south-west coast of England. The region is an area of outstanding natural beauty and amongst the most popular tourist destinations in the UK. Plymouth is a vibrant, compact city by the sea. The University and its facilities enjoy a central city location and thus is within walking distance of hotels and the famous Barbican and Hoe, boasting numerous fine restaurants and pubs, in a rich historical setting.

Conference venue

The University is located at the heart of the city of Plymouth, with excellent rail and road links. The campus boasts an extensive range of modern conference facilities including state of the art lecture theatres, exhibition venues, galleries, meeting and breakout rooms.

The University's dedicated conference and events team work with delegates to provide a comprehensive support package so that the conference is a success. Our meeting rooms offer the ideal space for focused presentations or group work, away from usual working environments.

The campus accommodation is well equipped with modern facilities and comfortable furnishings offering en-suite single bedrooms with all towels and bedding provided.

Travelling to Plymouth

There are hourly trains from London Paddington that take around 4 hours. GWR are offering discounted conference rail travel to UKACC delegates.

The nearest airports are Exeter and Newquay, both of which are approximately an hour (40-60 miles) away and are near or have access to train stations that have direct links to Plymouth. Bristol airport is two hours away by car or train.

London Gatwick and Heathrow are four hours away by car with good rail and National Express coach service links.

Plymouth also has an international ferry port serving France (Roscoff) and Spain (Santander).
