Sporting Excellence Scholar: Mindaugas Sadauskas

Sport: swimming (sprinter 100 freestyle, 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly).

Representative club: Plymouth Leander.

Ultimate sporting goal: to compete at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Role model:

"Rocky! He inspires me to achieve my goals and love my family and close friends."

Most eye opening experience:

"London Olympic Games which showed me a different side of sport where everyone can win."

When it comes to finding the motivation to keep up with a gruelling 4-5 hour a day training regime Mindausgas Sadaukas, Lithuanian born international swimmer, reminds himself of his driving force and secret to success:

"Be focussed if you want to be better than the rest."

Our MSc International Logistics and Supply Chain Management was the obvious choice for Mindaugas, who had just graduated from the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where he achieved a bachelor degree in markets and culture.

"Jon Rudd, from Plymouth Leander, helped me to decide how to progress my education and swimming career. He saw a potential in me and he invited me to join the Plymouth team. Plymouth University has access to a modern sport facility (Plymouth Life Centre) and their postgraduate programmes have a great reputation."

As he prepares to compete for the World and European Championships, along with the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Mindaugas still shows full commitment to the Plymouth University Students’ Union Swimming Club as he shares his excitement to swim with BUCS this year.
