Postgraduate scholarships for international students

To be considered for one of these scholarships you must first hold a conditional offer of a place on a postgraduate taught (PGT) programme commencing in September 2018. Please complete an application form and see information on how to apply. Of you haven't applied to study with us yet, you need to do this first.

International Student Masters Scholarship

Level/course of study: All masters programmes

Eligibility criteria: The University automatically considers applicants who meet the qualification requirements. Please note the eligibility criteria list is not exhaustive and graduates from all non-EU countries will be considered for these scholarships. Please note your undergraduate degree must be the equivalent of a UK honours degree, as specified by UK NARIC.

Value of award: £1,500

If you’ve applied for a masters degree programme for September 2018 entry, we’ll automatically consider you for this scholarship if your final transcript or marks sheet was submitted with your application. If you meet the criteria and are made a conditional offer of a place, we’ll inform you of the scholarship in your conditional offer letter. Once all conditions of your offer have been met and the tuition fee deposit has been paid, we’ll then confirm the scholarship award and issue your unconditional offer letter or conformation of acceptance for studies (CAS). See terms and conditions for details.

Closing date for award: There’s no closing date, but in order to confirm the scholarship we’ll need to receive all documents specified in your offer letter and you’ll need to have met all conditions of your offer. The sooner you send us your documentation the better, as you need to allow enough time for the visa application process in your own country (if applicable).

Terms and conditions

  • You can only be in receipt of one scholarship or discount, and it’s only valid for entry in the current academic year. If you’re awarded either scholarship two or three above, after already being offered scholarship one or another discount, you’ll only be awarded the higher value scholarship.

  • Scholarships awarded can’t be deferred. If you’re offered a scholarship and wish to defer your start date, you must re-apply for the scholarship and may not be awarded.

  • Award of scholarships can only be made if completed applications and supporting documents are submitted before any deadline stipulated, and if scholarships are still available to award at that time.

  • Any offer of scholarship can only be awarded once you’ve completed the scholarship application process (for scholarships two and three above), and once Plymouth University has confirmation that your qualifications meet the eligibility criteria (for all scholarships). We’ll only confirm your scholarship award once all the conditions of your offer have been satisfactorily met, and your deposit has been received. At this point we’ll issue your unconditional offer letter and CAS number (if applicable) and will confirm to the UK Borders Agency the amount of fees you must pay.
  • The scholarship value is in pounds sterling.
  • The scholarship, if awarded, will be deducted from the overall tuition fee that you’re liable to pay, and this will be reflected on your unconditional offer letter / CAS statement (the document that is your unconditional offer and must be used when applying for your visa).
  • The scholarship award can’t be used as a partial deposit or tuition fee payment, or in lieu of a deposit payment.
  • You can only be awarded a scholarship if you’re a degree student enrolled on your course at the University – if you’re not enrolled, or if you’re an exchange student or studying only part of the postgraduate course, then you aren’t eligible, nor if you’re studying a masters programme awarded by Plymouth University but delivered at a partner college, such as Greenwich School of Management or Schumacher College.
  • Plymouth University International Office Scholarship Committee’s decision on the awarding of scholarships is final. Students may be requested to submit additional documentation in support of their scholarship application.
