Once you've submitted your application
UCAS will send the University a copy of your application for us to consider whether to offer you a place to study. We'll then send you a confirmation email to let you know that we've received and are processing your application – so please check your email regularly for important updates.
For our standard courses (all courses except those in the Faculty of Health and Human Sciences, and some Faculty of Arts and Humanities courses that require a portfolio or audition) you'll receive a decision about your application within 14 days.
To help us make a decision, we will:
- check whether you have studied/are studying towards the correct qualifications for entry, and your predicted grades meet our requirements for the course
- read your personal statement
- invite you to an interview (for certain courses only).
Once we've made a decision, you'll also be notified initially by UCAS via their 'Track' system. You can find out more about this process from UCAS.
If an offer is made we'll invite you to one of our applicant days. Normally held from December to April, these days give you a chance to spend time with current students and academics, and get more in-depth information about the course before you make your final decisions.
Understanding your offer
Congratulations – you've received an offer to study with us. Once you've received decisions from all of your institutions/course choices, you'll need to choose your firm (preferred) or insurance (second) choice via UCAS track. If you've used all five choices on your application and aren't holding any offers, you may be able to apply through UCAS Extra for another course.
After you've accepted your offer
We're really pleased that you've accepted your offer to study with us. If your offer is conditional, good luck for your exam results. If successful, it's time to start getting excited – you're not far away from the next steps on your student journey.
Where would you like to live while studying with us? Explore information about our range of purpose-built accommodation or come and see it for yourself at an open day or applicant day. Once you've chosen and reserved your room, after confirmation, our Residence Life Team will be in contact with you about paying your deposit.
We understand how important it is to live and study with like-minded students in a secure and welcoming environment; therefore, we guarantee University-managed accommodation to all undergraduate applicants who choose Plymouth University as their first choice institution and apply for accommodation before 1 July 2017. Please note that the guarantee does not apply to students who still have a conditional status after 31 August 2017.
