Tony Spotswood
Tony is a graduate of the University of London and has an MBA from Henley Management College. He was a hospital CEO for over 20 years, including serving as the CEO of The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals for 19 years. Tony's leadership of the Trust included awards of hospital of the year and being rated outstanding by the CQC for its leadership. During his time as a hospital CEO , Tony also held a number of regional and national roles, including responsibility for the review and reform of back office services across the NHS. Tony was also Chairman of the Wessex National Institute for Health Research and also Chaired the Wessex Assurance Board for Health Education England. He has a particular interest in compassionate leadership and organisational culture.
In addition to his Governor role with the University Tony is also Chair of a registered provider of social housing, and continues to coach and mentor colleagues within the NHS. He is also a keen road cyclist and swimmer and follows Tranmere Rovers.
