Placement set up process

The process of becoming a provider of student placements

Step one

After you express an interest in hosting placements, you will be contacted by a Practice Placement Development Lead (PPDL).

Step two

An initial visit will be made by your PPDL to discuss placements further and a profile will be completed of your placement area.

The PPDL will help you identify mentors who will need further training and give you dates for courses/updates. The term mentor refers to any registered professional who supports, educates and assesses learners in practice. Otherwise known as: practice assessors, placement educators etc.

Step three

You will be sent a Workplace Agreement by your PPDL’s placement team. This needs to be signed and returned to that team.

Step four

Your placement setting(s) will be quality audited by the placement team. This covers elements such as student support and assessment, learning and teaching opportunities, and CQC ratings.

Step five

A Learning Development Agreement will be set up with you by Health Education England. This enables their payment to your organisation of the placement tariff.

Step six

You will then be allocated your first student/s.
