January – March 2017
The School of Nursing and Midwifery are running a pilot to introduce electronic student assessment e-OARS. The pilot will run between January 2017 until March 2017, with another pilot period planned for April 2017. The aim is to introduce this system to all Nursing and Midwifery students for the start of the 2017-2018 academic year.
This pilot is to test the use, functionality and application of the e-OARs system within a variety of placement settings. The aim of the system is to enable ease of access to a student’s ongoing progress for mentors, students and tutors. Enable speed of completion of the assessment process and transference of students’ results for programme completion.
Students and Mentors will use the electronic assessment system (e-OAR) alongside using the current OARs document which will need to be completed and submitted as normal.
The e-OAR system is still in development, so this pilot will enable us to identify possible areas for improvement. It is anticipated that there may be the requirement for minor adjustments to be made before the e-OAR system is established.
As part of the pilot we will also be asking students to test a tablet device to enable access to the secure assessment site. In addition, we would want to encourage students to use this tablet for study within and outside of the classroom and provide us feedback on its functionality, ease of use and application.
