Looking for advice about what student support documents (SSDs) mean and how you can create a more inclusive teaching and learning environment? 

Here you'll find all the information you need to help you talk to your students, gain a better understanding of their individual learning requirements and plan any adaptations needed in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Training programme

We want to promote an environment of inclusivity at University of Plymouth by helping to increase your levels of confidence and competence when supporting your students.

You can attend workshops and awareness sessions run by the Vassall Centre Trust, Mind and the Learning Development Team, to build your knowledge and gain certificates of training to add to your continuing professional development (CPD).

Available workshops include supporting individuals with: 

  • visual impairments
  • deaf and hearing impairment
  • physical impairments
  • autistic spectrum conditions (Asperger's)
  • dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties.

Awareness sessions include:

  • responding to student diversity
  • identifying and responding to mental health difficulties
  • structuring your critical and creative thinking
  • adopting inclusive practices.
