COVID-19 support for international students living in Plymouth

This page includes the following support and guidance:

  • Information about coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccinations
  • Support for you while self-isolating
  • Where to find additional support and services

COVID-19 vaccinations

Anybody aged 18 or over in the UK is eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination for free, regardless of:

  • Nationality
  • Immigration status
  • Student status

The COVID-19 vaccination is completely free of charge in the UK.

How to get a vaccine

First, you should register with a GP surgery and get an NHS number. If you are not registered with a GP surgery, you will not be contacted by a local NHS service about your vaccine.

An NHS number can be found on any letter the NHS has sent you, on a prescription, or by logging in to a GP practice online service.

COVID-19 vaccination (NHS)

You can also request to book COVID-19 vaccination appointments as an unregistered patient by visiting a local GP practice or the University Medical Centre.

Getting a second COVID-19 vaccine dose

If you have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine outside the UK, you should receive the same vaccine for your second dose.

Not all COVID-19 vaccines are available in the UK. Please contact a doctor to ensure you receive an appropriate vaccine for your second dose.

Shopping while self-isolating

Grocery and houseware shopping

Firstly, talk to your accommodation provider to find out what support they are providing to help you while self-isolating. Make sure you know what support or rules are in place for self-isolating students because some delivery companies will need you (or an accommodation representative) to take delivery from the main door onto the street.

Grocery delivery

Some of the main shops in the UK that you can buy groceries, toiletries, and some household items online from are:

Local fresh food deliveries are also available:

Riverford Organic

Veg Box Fresh

The Cornish Food Box Company

*If you are unable to book a deliver slot with Morrisons directly, you can order a Morrisons food shop through Amazon (just click on the Morrisons tab within Amazon).

Takeaway food delivery

The following companies can deliver takeaway food (some do grocery shop deliveries as well).

Uber Eats

Just Eat

Some restaurants will also deliver to you directly (Google Maps will show you what is near your accommodation).

Household items

Towels, bedding, and other household items can be purchased online through many UK retailers with online delivery.
