International Students: Applying for halls of residence

International - semester only

International and exchange students can apply to live in our halls of residence for a single semester. The first semester runs from September to January and the second semester runs from January to June/July. There is also an International Student Orientation Programme (ISOP) prior to the start of your course.

Before you apply

  • Applications can be made on the accommodation portal.
  • Please read all of the useful information on our FAQ's, hall pages and portal help guide before appling.
  • You can apply for the following halls of residence Mary Newman, Francis Drake, Pilgrim, Radnor, Gilwell and Robbins.  
  • There are web pages on each of these halls for you to look as well as the price guide.
  • You will receive your room offer via email in August and will have seven days to accept this offer.
  • All students must pay a £250 deposit to secure their hall room.
  • If you are starting in September, four weeks rent in advance will be required.
  • Please read our what to bring list. These are only examples of what you may need and you are able to purchase these items once you arrive in Plymouth if it is more convenient.

International full year  

International and exchange students can apply to live in our halls of residence for the full academic year. The contract will start in September and will finish in either June or July depending on which contract length you choose to apply for. There is also an International Student Orientation Programme (ISOP) prior to the start of your course.

Before you apply

  • You can apply for a 41 or a 42 week contract on our accommodation portal.
  • There are web pages on each of these halls for you to look as well as the price guide. 
  • You will receive your room offer via email in August and will have seven days to accept this offer.  
  • All students must pay a £250 deposit to secure their hall room.
  • You will be required to pay four weeks rent in advance.
  • Please read our what to bring list. These are only examples of what you may need and you are able to purchase these items once you arrive in Plymouth if it is more convenient.
