Get ready to come to your new home in University managed halls! 

Everything you need to know about arrivals day is listed below.

Our Residence Life Team will be on hand on arrivals day to make moving in to your new home a fun and exciting experience. So if there is anything you’re unsure of, give them a call and get some answers from the people who will be with you for the year.

Essential arrival and check-in information

  • Arrivals are being split over two days, 15 September and 16 September 2017, for all halls except Francis Drake, Mary Newman and St Teresa with specific times for each flat.
  • Francis Drake, Mary Newman and St Teresa arrivals are 16 September 2017.
  • Colour coded routes have been created for your smooth arrival. These are available above to download and will also be posted around the city.
  • There are a number of bus only lanes across the main routes into the city to be aware of, including Embankment Road, Exeter Street and Tavistock Road (A386). See Plymouth City Council’s parking pages for more information.
  • Time slots are currently being sent out to students via email.
  • It is important that you arrive at the specified time to allow for a smooth moving process for yourself and other students.
  • Please print off and fill in your specific hall parking permit/window card. You will need to display this upon arrival at your hall.
  • On arrival you’ll be met by University staff and students. We will be adopting a 'drop and go' principle where you will unload straight away and then move your car. Maps for parking locations will be supplied.
  • Trollies will be available for unloading.
  • Check what to bring.
  • Please refrain from ordering any shopping deliveries to halls of residence during the 15-16 September.

*International, medical and dentistry will be moving in on 9 September. There are no specific time slots for moving in but the team will be available to assist you when you arrive.

Today's events

If you are arriving on 9 September please note there are no specific time slots for moving in but the team will be available to assist you when you arrive. Please follow the route maps for your halls of residence, please note the colour coded signage will not be installed throughout the city but these routes are the best to follow. The Gilwell car park is available (first come first served) on 9 September for student village residents.

Francis Drake or Mary Newman Halls of residents for arrivals on 9 September – please follow the Blue Route into the city but access the campus via Cobourg Street (Route A only for both halls) please could you aim to arrive after 11am as we have an open day taking place during this day. There will be staff and students on hand to direct you to the nearest car parking spaces until 4.30pm after which time please park in one of the designate car parking spaces on site.

Here's some important information for you about arrivals day.

Prior to arrival

  • Download your specific hall route map.
  • Take note of your move in time slot.
  • Print off the relevant parking permit for your hall and ensure that it is filled in correctly.

For arrival

  • Please follow our designated route maps to your hall and not satnav. These routes have been carefully mapped out to reduce the volume of traffic and disruption.
  • Park in the drop-off zone and display your parking permit.
  • Collect your keys and a member of the team will escort you to your room.
  • Unload your vehicle as quickly as possible.
  • Relocate your vehicle to a longer stay car park (maps will be provided).

Please be aware that some of Plymouth University's public events may be attended by University photographers and videographers, for capturing content to be used in University online and offline marketing and promotional materials, for example webpages, brochures or leaflets. If for whatever reason, you or a member of your group, do not wish to be photographed, please make yourself known to staff working at the event on arrival or to the photographer.
