Booking accommodation

Am I guaranteed a hall room?

We guarantee a place in halls – either University-managed or from accredited private providers – to all undergraduate first-year students who make the University of Plymouth their firm first choice and apply by 10 May 2019.

How do I book a room?

You can view specific halls details and room availability on our Plym Uni Homes database and then make your room booking for University-managed halls on the accommodation portal. Specific room numbers will be sent after the guarantee deadline is closed. Bookings for private halls will need to be made on the hall provider's own website and you may be required to pay a deposit and sign a contract straight away.

What happens when I receive my room number?

To secure the room a £250 deposit is required followed by four weeks’ rent in advance (due early September). If the fours weeks’ rent in advance is going to be problematic, please make contact with the Student Accommodation Office. Please note that only the student intending to live in the room can sign the halls of residence licence agreement.

Where can I find information for new arrivals?

Information will be emailed to you after you have signed your licence agreement. You will also be able to join your hall Facebook group to meet your new neighbours before you arrive. New students can also find useful links and resources in the residence life section of our site.

How do I find out moving day instructions for September?

Prior to moving in, information will be provided on the university website. This will include route maps, parking and hotel information. Specific moving time slots will be emailed to you.

Can another person discuss my account with Residence Life?

During the application process, you will have the opportunity to add third party permission contact details. We can only talk to those people listed as the third party contact in the accommodation application due to data protection. Please note this is not the same as listing someone as your emergency contact as the third party permissions will not apply to them. If you wish to add someone as a third party contact you will need to do so in writing from the email address listed on your account, otherwise, we cannot discuss your details.
