Any time between 09.00 – 16.00 (Monday – Thursday) University Card Collection - Room 015, Ground Floor, Smeaton Building  

Your card is used for entry to the Library, some room entry, handing in coursework etc.

You must complete online enrolment and upload a photo prior to attending this session. You will need to bring identification with you to this session. The preferred form of identification is a valid current passport. Please refer to our University Card Collection web page for further details.

NB: If you already have a card i.e. because you were previously a student on another course or at a Partner College, you do not need to attend this session.

Medical information – Please read and action urgently

As soon as you have completed online enrolment, please ensure that you complete the online medical questionnaire.  You will find the questionnaire at: . Alternatively, you can scroll down on the induction web page where you will see a link for the Medical Questionnaire (You must complete online enrolment first). The information is required solely to enable organisers of field courses, lab work and other activities you may undertake to be alerted to any special requirements or precautions which may be necessary.

A welcome from Professor Deborah Greaves, Head of School of Engineering followed by tea/coffee and biscuits with Dr Antony Robotham, Programme Manager.

16.00 - 16.15 Introductionto Student Wellbeing Services - Lecture Theatre 1, ground floor, Roland Levinsky Building 

Student Services will outline the support available to all students and where you need to go to access this support. The session will include information about:

  • Disability Services

  • Student Wellbeing Services (Counselling, Mental Health and Wellbeing)

  • Chaplaincy

  • Learning Development incl SUM UP

  • Care Leavers

  • Peer Assisted Learning (PALS)

16.15 – 16.45 Introduction to the Library and IT – Lecture Theatre 1, ground  floor, Roland Levinsky Building

16.46 – 17.00 Introduction to the Students’ Union – Lecture Theatre 1, ground floor, Roland Levinsky Building

A representative of the Students’ Union will outline all the extra-curricular activities you can enjoy, including; sports clubs and societies, volunteering, and how the Union is the hub of social life whilst studying. They provide your student support and representation.

19.00 – 21.45 Welcome Party - Graduation Marquee, Plymouth Hoe

The Welcome Party is your opportunity to meet informally with other students new to The Faculty of Science and Engineering as well as some current students and your academic staff.

Additionally, the evening includes a welcome drink, entertainment and the chance to win a £100 Amazon voucher

 10.30 – 12.00 Introduction to your course – Room 203, Fitzroy Building

Dr Antony Robotham, Programme Leader, will give an overview of the course structure, the modules, assessment requirements and academic regulations.

You need to make your module choices online – there is a link to this facility on the student portal Online Module Choice opens on Monday 17 September and closes on Friday 28 September.

 12.00 – 13.00 Lunch – Room 303, Roland Levinsky Building

Lunch will be provided. This will be an opportunity for new students to meet staff and current students in an informal setting.

 14.00 – 15.30 ‘Survival Management’ – Lecture Theatre 1, ground floor, Roland Levinsky Building
