Some documents may need to be returned to the University before you arrive. If you have not already done so, please upload a photograph of yourself using the e@applicant page: https://eservices.plymouth.ac.uk/app/ following the online instructions.

This photo will appear on your University card, which is issued to you during your induction. Without this photo, your University card cannot be produced and will be delayed getting to you. You will need ID when you pick up your University card and the only form of ID is your passport.

0945 - 1000 Head of Schools Welcome - Sherwell 2 Upper Lecture theatre, Sherwell Centre

1000 - 1200 Introduction to your degree course - Room 312, Smeaton Building

This meeting is a very important one. It is your first formal contact with the staff most involved with your Foundation Year, and your fellow Biomedical Sciences students, who you will be working closely with throughout the year. The session will be led by the Biomedical Sciences with Integrated Foundation Year Programme lead, who will introduce you to the school, the structure of degrees at Plymouth, brief details of what topics you might cover during your time here and so on. You will also be told what we expect of you. there will be an opportunity for you to ask questions. During this meeting you will be allocated to a personal Tutor.

1400 - 1530 Laboratory Skills workshop with Sarah Jamieson, Andrew Atfield and Sarah Peak - Rooms 209, Davy Building

This session provides you with an opportunity to test your command of basic laboratory skills (e.g. observation, handling measurement and analysis skills). Join up with 5 other students and try to win a prize (presented to the best groups).

1530 - 1700 Introduction to the Library with Chris Johns - Room 005, Babbage Building

A presentation from your subject librarian introducing you to the facilities and services of the University library.

1600 - 1700 Placements and Career Service with Paul Gillard and Lindsay Marshall - Sherwell 2 Upper Lecture theatre, Sherwell Centre

As you have enrolled on a Foundation Year for a clinical programme, you probably have a good idea of the career you would like to build for yourself, however, please feel welcome to attend this session, as there may be something of interest you hadn’t considered, and will give you an insight into the careers available in the wider healthcare team.
