Will you miss microbeads?

We all have our own daily washing routine, but is yours unintentionally harming the environment?

Professor Richard Thompson, from Plymouth’s School of Biological and Marine Sciences, has demonstrated how plastic microbeads used in exfoliating care products, such as face scrub, could be causing serious damage to our marine environment after they’re washed down the drain.

A leading expert on ‘microplastics’ (a term that he coined), Professor Thompson’s research has warned world leaders of the 'considerable concern about the potential effects of microplastic in the environment,' which has since stirred the US and UK governments, among others, to ban the use of microbeads.
