Explore our animal science pod

With access to a custom-built animal science pod at Dartmoor Zoo, students studying BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour and Welfare at Plymouth get the chance to study their subjects at close quarters. Students are on site with the animals, which include an Amur tiger named Vladimir, meerkats, Siberian wolves, ring-tailed coati, and lots more.

The Dartmoor Institute of Animal Science (DIAS) pod also gives you experience of carrying out behavioural studies in a range of settings. Plymouth University graduate Adam Cook, now Head of the Dartmoor Institute of Animal Science and an Associate Lecturer, says the pod is a "great opportunity for students to work in a real-world environment."
