Background
After qualifying in 1999 I spent several years in critical care environments including Intensive Care, Coronary Care and Accident and Emergency. I then moved into the private sector as a Nurse Adviser in Chronic Disease Management as part of a pharmaceutical sponosred team of nurses in Primary Care. Following a geographical move I took my first research post working as a Research Nurse in Urogynaecology. Three years later I took on the role of Research Nurse Specialist, this involved the development of Research Nurse education within a large research active hospital in Plymouth. I am on the faculty of a nationwide course in research nursing skills and was instrumental in the development of the first degree level module in Research Nurse Practice. As part of this role I also became an NIHR ICH GCP facilitator for mandatory research governance training.
I completed my training as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse in 2014.
