Materials and Structures Technician
- Non-destructive testing/analysis - X-Ray fluorescence analysis for determining elemental composition, failure mode analysis
- Metallurgical specimen preparation – mounting, grinding, polishing & chemical etching. Preparation for Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)
- Destructive testing – analysis of microstructures (grain structures of sample allow the manufacturing method and heat treatments to be determined), tensile tests, rotary fatigue tests, impact tests, hardness tests.
