Katie McManus

Equality & Inclusion Officer

Peninsula Medical School (Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry)

Role

My role encompasses supporting the Faculty’s equality and diversity activities, as well as considering the wider context of equality and diversity in Higher Education and society. I also disseminate information to the faculty, ensuring we are compliant with legislation and up to date with best practice and wider University activities.

I currently support the Faculty’s Athena SWAN work. PUPSMD has recently been awarded a Silver award by the Equality Challenge Unit (http://www.ecu.ac.uk), for their work towards gender equality. We are continuing this work through our Self-Assessment Team (SAT) and through implementing our Action Plan, as outlined in our Athena SWAN
Silver Application (https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/your-university/about-us/university-structure/faculties/medicine-dentistry/athena-swan-at-pu-psmd)

I also support the Faculty’s Culture, Diversity and Inclusion committee (CDIC), which looks at all functions and operations of the faculty that relate to equality, culture, diversity and inclusion. The committee report to the Faculty Board and the University’s central Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee (EDIC).
