Jamie has worked as a Lecturer in Product Design for over 15 years and a design consultant for more than 20 years.He has an MA in Industrial Design from Central St Martins School of Art and Design (1999-2001), a BA (Hons) in Design Futures from Newport School of Art and Design (1995-1998) and First/National Diploma/Foundation in Art and Design from Falmouth School of Art and Design (1992-1995)
Roles on external bodies
In addition to Jamie's role at the University of Plymouth, Jamie is a Sustainable Product Design & Learning Consultant, with more than 20 years experience as a professional designer, researcher and academic.
Jamie has worked with brands like Nestle' and Autodesk developing research and educational content for sustainable and ethical design solutions. He is an External Content Contributor for Autodesk Sustainability Workshop, Autodesk Educational Experiences and a Faculty Fellow for Autodesk Inc.
Jamie's specialism is Product Design, although he teaches on all levels and pathways on our design programmes.
Whilst Jamie is engaged by both traditional and contemporary design practice and theory, his main interests center around sustainable and ethical design principles and methods. As such, Jamie particularly enjoys teaching students about Whole Systems Thinking and how design can be instrumental in helping achieve Circular Economies!
Jamie has worked on sustainable product and packaging solutions with a number of household brands and he's initiated and received awards for his research with Nestle' and Co-oproduct CIC, in the areas of 'closed loop' 3D printing solutions using waste packaging - as well as other sustainable design subjects.
