Miss Helen Wenger
Lecturer in Advanced Practice Nursing
School of Nursing and Midwifery (Faculty of Health: Medicine, Dentistry and Human Sciences)
I am currently lecturing on the Advanced Practice Programme within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. I have a passion to drive forward clinical roles such as nursing, para-medicine and other allied health professionals to equip learners, who are experienced clinicians in the own right, with advanced consultation skills, decision making and diagnostics skills to help the progression of non-medical advanced practice within the NHS. I am still actively working in the NHS as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Emergency Medicine which ties in nicely with such frameworks as the RCN Advanced Clinical Practice credentialing service and the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) ACP curriculum.

Taking advanced practice for nursing and allied health professionals to the next level for the next generation of Advanced Clinical Practitioners.
For the purpose of my personal MSc, I focused on the effect of compassion fatigue of nurses working in Emergency Medicine and how this links into the phenomenon of burnout and associated resilience.
