Biography

Biography

Prior to moving into academia, Grace spent many years as a playwright and director. She has a wealth of experience in musical theatre and has been associate director in the UK and Australia on productions of War Horse (National Theatre) West Side Story and Guys and Dolls (Ambassador Theatre Group), Sunset Boulevard (Really Useful Group), Martin Guerre and The Witches of Eastwick (Cameron Mackintosh), My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof (Australian Opera), Into the Woods and the Threepenny Opera (Sydney Theatre Company). As a playwright in Scotland her work has been produced at the Traverse, the Citizens, Royal Lyceum and Theatre Workshop (Edinburgh), Pitlochry Rep, The Byre St Andrews and Oran Mhor. She has written the script for three new musicals - Nevermore, Crossing and The Blue Poppy, which have all premiered at the Tony Award Winning Signature Theatre in Arlington. 

Qualifications

Grace received her PhD and MA in Non Fiction Writing from the University of Technology Sydney. She also has a MSc in Gender Studies from the University of Edinburgh. Her book From Blood Brothers to Cinderella: National Identity and the British Musical will be published by Methuen in summer 2022.
