Potential High Achievers Scheme

Looking to get to the top? Plymouth University students doing exactly that at Mount St Helens, part of our American field course.

What is The Potential High Achievers Scheme?

In the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences we recognise that our students are the future leaders in our subject disciplines and core to the development of a sustainable planet. We know that our applicants will thrive in the environment we can provide, and we want to ensure our best applicants become our future.

Are you a high achieving student? Are you being predicted top grades?
Can you demonstrate your motivation and do you want to succeed in our world?
Do you want to secure your future at university?

The Potential High Achievers Scheme is now open for students who have applied to study, from September 2017, any full-time undergraduate course within the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, including chemistry. We will be contacting applicants who are not only on course to achieve top marks but who have an outstanding personal statement, in order to offer them a chance to receive an unconditional offer immediately.

If you have received an offer from the University and a letter from the Head of School offering you the opportunity to make this an unconditional offer it is because we believe that you have the potential that we are seeking in our Potential High Achievers Scheme.

All you need to do is make Plymouth University your first choice on UCAS. As recognition of the potential we think you have we will then change your offer to unconditional. Your place at Plymouth University will then be confirmed and you can go ahead and make arrangements for your accommodation and plan your move to Plymouth in September.

Scholarships

The School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences offer scholarships for outstanding achievement. As part of our Potential High Achievers Scheme we want to encourage you to continue to work hard for your exams, which are so important for your future career. We will reward those applicants who achieve the highest grades in their exams and demonstrate a commitment to Plymouth University by awarding them £1,000 when they enrol. We would encourage this scholarship to be spent on the final year optional field trip or towards study costs.

A school shaped by students

We have listened carefully to current students feedback, as expressed in last year’s NSS surveys, and we have taken actions to ensure we continue to improve the experience for all our students.

"Our accredited degrees, top class facilities and world class scientists who will be teaching you, all contribute to the great feedback and satisfaction we get from our students. Not to mention field trips to rival any university degree and one of the best natural environments for a degree in geography, Earth or environmental science right on the doorstep."

We continue to provide graduates who are highly valued by employers due to the practical, hands-on nature of our degrees.
