Mathematical sciences research

Mathematics research is focused through our Centre for Mathematical Sciences. In the 2014 UK Research Excellence Framework 68 per cent of our research papers were classified as World Leading or Internationally Excellent. This research is across pure and applied mathematics, medical and financial statistics, theoretical physics and simulations using high performance computing.

Research in mathematics education is carried out through the Centre for Teaching Mathematics.

We have four active seminar programmes (in Pure and Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Theoretical Physics). View videos of some of these seminars.

Our research is supported by our own High Performance Computing facility. The supercomputer is a state of the art cluster comprising more than 1000 cores using InfiniBand for fast communication.
