Computing Excellence Scheme

Based upon previous qualifications, your personal statement and your referee's statement we may select you for our Computing Excellence Scheme and make you a personalised offer. This offer will be below our usual tariff range and intended as a gesture of confidence in your ability. We hope that having this reduced offer with us will give you confidence during your A levels and help you to achieve very high grades. It is worth realising that your A level grades matter: even with a first class honours degree, future employers may still use A levels as a filter when deciding which applicants to invite to interviews.

You can also obtain a computing scholarship of up to £500 by gaining two A grades at A level (each of these grades yields a £250 scholarship for students who have put us as their first choice). The computing scholarship can also be obtained by students who have put us as their first choice and have acquired three D* at BTEC level (this needs to be an IT and Computing related BTEC).

We would strongly recommend that you visit one of our Applicant Days and we look forward to meeting you personally at one of them.

In computing, we are proud of our record of supporting and developing students to achieve their very best. In the latest Guardian Computer Science & Information Systems League Table of universities, the quality of our teaching was ranked as the best in the South West. This is part of a record of sustained success. Our graduates have obtained roles in companies such as IBM, Microsoft, Intel, Accenture and Visa.
