Win a £3000 scholarship for our MSc Psychological Research Methods

We’re running a competition for a £3,000 discount on fees for the MSc Psychological Research in 2018. Entries close 1 June 2018.

We are also offering a second prize of £1,500. All you need to do is tell us what psychological question you’re burning to answer, and how you plan to do it.

Our MSc Psychological Research Methods gives students the opportunity to pursue their own research agenda. You will work with one of our 50 expert staff to conduct leading edge research; in recent years projects have examined action slips and involuntary movement, mechanisms of food choice and addiction; experiences of Burlesque dance; promoting pro-environmental behaviour, and have even persuaded us to eat more insects!

To enter the competition, you simply need to:

  • Apply for the course via the normal process (note, this does not commit you to taking up the place, but allows us to assess your eligibility to study).
  • Write a 300 word summary of what you see as the most interesting question to study in psychology, and how you might tackle it. We’re not looking for polished research proposals — just creative ideas that demonstrate your enthusiasm for psychological science.

If you have any queries about the course or the scholarship, please contact Ben Whalley

Eligibility criteria:

Students must be eligible for UK (home) fees, and must hold or be predicted to achieve a 2:1 degree or better in Psychology or cognate discipline. Entries to the competition will only be accepted from students who have applied for and been awarded a provisional place on the MSc Psychological Research Methods for 2018.

Competition criteria:

All applications will be judged on academic merit by a panel of academics within the school chaired by the programme lead. The panel’s decision will be made by June 15 2018, and this decision will be final. Scholarships will be awarded as discounts on fees payable by students, and will be administered by the University Finance Office. Scholarships will be awarded for 2018 only, and cannot be deferred (although part-time students are eligible to apply, and the scholarship will be applied across both years of study).
