Simona Biancu

Fundraising consultant, ENGAGEDin, Italy

"In a general context characterised by a progressive decrease of public funds, I firmly believe that fundraising could be the best way to restore forms of communities and reciprocity.

"Joining an international network like Rogare means to me having the opportunity to contribute to the debate on fundraising as a development engine for communities worldwide, complementary (and sometimes a compensation for) to public policies.

"Being part of this think tank aimed to enhance the growth of a stronger fundraising-oriented approach as well as the exchange of best practices able to orient the non-profit sector, is a great honour for me as a fundraising professional."

Simona approached the world of fundraising during her 15-year experience within the university sector. Since 2011 she has been running ENGAGEDin, a consultancy firm on fundraising and strategic philanthropy, based in Italy and operating internationally, which integrates consultancies with training activities for NGOs and INGOs, universities, and non-profit centres.

Simona specialised at the post-graduate Fundraising School at Università di Bologna, is a co-author of a book on political fundraising for Italian parties and a regular contributor to blogs and magazines about fundraising and philanthropy.

As a proud member of the Italian Association of Fundraisers and the UK Institute of Fundraising, Simona strongly believes that working to support the non-profit sector is what fulfils her personal motto, taken by the poet Alexander Pope: “Act well your part, there all the honour lies".
