George Shelton

PhD student, Hartsook Centre of Sustainable Philanthropy, University of Plymouth

"I joined Rogare in order to to collaborate with those who are passionate about making a tangible difference to the world around them through intelligent and compassionate fundraising.

"I hope to contribute towards this community through my practical research at Plymouth University during my PhD project, and to use what I learn from this network to improve the quality of my research (and vice versa).

"I’m particularly interested in approaching fundraising (as an area) ‘from the outside-in’, rather than from a fundraising industry standpoint, and look forward to collaborating widely with members of the Rogare community. "

I’m a full-time PhD student, fortunate enough to work under world-renowned professors Jen Shang and Adrian Sargeant at Plymouth University. My primary areas of interest are community fundraising, challenge-based fundraising, online giving platforms, and the psychology of philanthropy in this digital age.

I have a broad range of commercial and entrepreneurial experience, and hold an MSc in Innovation, Creativity and Leadership from Cass Business School, as well as a BA (Hons) from Regent’s Business School in London.

Away from my desk, I have a keen interest in volunteering, mental health and psychology, and just about anything with an engine.
