British Society for Oral and Dental Research Conference 2017

The British Society for Oral and Dental Research Conference 2017 is being hosted by Plymouth University in the heart of the historic maritime city of Plymouth.

The conference will officially open at 14:00 on Wednesday 6th and close at 14:00 on Friday 8th September 2017.

More than 250 delegates are expected to attend the conference. Delegates will include senior and early career researchers from the dental research community along with research students, keynote speakers and industrial sponsors.

Conference venue

Plymouth University is located at the heart of the city of Plymouth, with excellent rail and road links. The campus boasts an extensive range of modern conference facilities including state of the art lecture theatres, exhibition venues, galleries, meeting and breakout rooms.

Plymouth University’s dedicated conference and events team work with delegates to provide a comprehensive support package so that the conference is a success. Our meeting rooms offer the ideal space for focused presentations or group work, away from usual working environments.

The campus accommodation is well equipped with modern facilities and comfortable furnishings offering en-suite single bedrooms with all towels and bedding provided.


Travelling to Plymouth

There are hourly trains from London Paddington that take between 3-4 hours, the driving time is similar.

GWR are offering discounted conference rail travel to BSODR delegates, further information can be found on the GWR website.

The nearest airports are Exeter and Newquay, both of which are approximately an hour (40-60 miles) away and are near or have access to train stations that have direct links to Plymouth. Bristol airport is two hours away by car or train.

London Gatwick and Heathrow are four hours away by car with good rail and National Express coach service links.

Plymouth also has an international ferry port serving France (Roscoff) and Spain (Santander).

British Society for Oral and Dental Research (BSODR)

The British Society for Oral and Dental Research (BSODR) was formed to advance research and increase knowledge for the improvement of oral health in the United Kingdom.

Its primary objectives are:

  • To support and represent the oral health research community in the UK.
  • To encourage junior workers to become involved in oral and dental research.
  • To facilitate the dissemination and application of research findings relating to oral health and the interactions between oral and systemic health.

Now, the BSODR meets on an annual basis. Meetings alternate between the UK and a joint meeting with our PER partners.
