Devon Guild of Craftsmen and EDRF Low Carbon Devon present a Green Maker Initiative workshop: Plastic Alchemy - Learn how to transform recycled plastics into beautiful sustainable designs

Introductory workshop for designer-makers to get hands-on experience with Precious Plastics machines. Learn about injection moulding and fabricating your designs using a renewable source, household waste plastics.

Small groups of four will receive a short introduction to moulds, a demonstration of the Precious Plastics machines and will try out the machines to create a soap dish or a set of buttons.

Led by Dr Kate Crawfurd, Precious Plastics Plymouth. Kate Crawfurd is an artist and scientist working as a freelance theatre scenic artist and muralist, she also holds a doctorate on the effects of climate change on marine plankton ecology. She is involved in many creative engagement projects including Precious Plastic Plymouth and Tavistock.

This is a low-tech, artisan plastic recycling project, part of a global Precious Plastic movement, which aims to inspire, engage and create; encouraging respect for the environment through playful creative activity.

Kate will be assisted by University of Plymouth, 3D Design graduates, Saw Kok Ian and Oscar McNaughton.
