Environmental Futures and Big Data Impact Lab

Impact Lab

We live in an age where vast amounts of data are generated every day. From GP visits to social media posts, weather information to videos, this data – high volume, diverse and fast – is what is known as Big Data.

Impact Lab will bring SMEs and individual innovators together with researchers to analyse data, and create new products and services focusing on safeguarding the environment.

This £6.4m part-funded ERDF project will be delivered by the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth with the Met Office, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, Rothamsted Research, Plymouth College of Art and Exeter City Futures.

Does your organisation work with big data?

Are you interested in finding out what you could do with it? Do you have a challenge you need to solve?

Through Impact Lab you can access a variety of research expertise and facilities at the University of Plymouth, including:

  • Research expertise in statistics, data science, high performance computing, data visualisation and innovation to support you with the co-creation of products and services.
  • Innovation, incubation and business support through GAIN.
  • Physical facilities such as workstations, meeting rooms and demonstration space.
