Past events

We have hosted a variety of workshops already. If you are interested in any of these topics, please let us know as we can run the workshops again.

  • Immersive data and visualisations workshop (July 2019)
  • Social media workshop (Autumn 2019)
  • Life cycle assessments for small businesses workshop (October 2019)
  • Introduction to R and RStudio workshop (January 2020).

The Impact Lab offers a range of events and workshops throughout the year, covering a wide range of topics.

We will be running a series of themed challenges; gathering enterprises, entrepreneurs and academics together to tackle key issues related to globally important environmental and big data opportunities. These challenges will include intensive events and workshops where innovators can collaborate, make new connections and receive mentorship and guidance. Larger enterprises can be involved with challenge events as ‘Challenge Owners’ and can get the participants working on solving their most pressing environmental and big data issues.

Impact Lab – European Study Group

Impact Lab and the Centre of Mathematical Sciences are planning to run a study group exploring effective ways that our expertise in High Performance Computing, Data Science, Big Data and Mathematical modelling could be used to solve significant problems and challenges arising in industry.

The Impact Lab is, therefore, asking a range of organisations to propose key problems or challenges they face.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact the Impact Lab team at
