Michael Liedtke - graduate profile

"My performance in exams and coursework during my first year at university was awarded with the Jacobs Merit Award.  This award included an offer of a placement year along with a few other great perks.  I also believe that being able to put something like this on my CV, may have set me above other candidates when applying for summer placements and jobs.

I now work for the Atkins Rivers and Coastal team in London and am involved in various different projects ranging from conducting a feasibility study for a new hydropower scheme in Pakistan to designing new coastal defences along the River Thames. The work is often challenging, but most importantly, no day is ever the same.

Having enrolled on the Atkins graduate training scheme, my next aim in my professional career is to become a Chartered Engineer.  I am also looking to get involved in international work through secondments or individual projects, to further my experience of the civil engineering industry."
