Meet the graduates

Marjorie Creek
Attending a lecture on legal issues in nursing while working as Research Sister at Derriford Hospital, sparked Marjorie’s passion for law. After gaining her LLB (Hons) and LPC at Plymouth, she has gone on to qualify as a solicitor, practising as a litigator and for private clients.

Sam Fraser
Not sure of his long-term goals after A levels, Sam grabbed the chance to study at a forward-looking university close to home. During his final year he came through a gruelling application process, against 15,500 other hopefuls, to gain one of 50 places on the NHS HR Graduate Management Training Scheme.

Leon Leung
After a break in his studies at another university and a stint in an accounting firm for a few years, the Law School’s teaching excellence convinced Leon to complete his degree at Plymouth. Just as he’d hoped, he started work as a Trainee Chartered Accountant in a London firm soon after graduating.

Tim Roper
Do you dream of having your name above the door and running your own firm? Twenty years after graduating, Tim has forged a successful career as a solicitor, specialising in clinical negligence and working on groundbreaking claims. He’s now Director of Roper James Solicitors.

Anna Slater
Drawn to life by the coast, Anna came to study at Plymouth from London. The option in media law helped cement her desire to become a journalist. After graduating, she completed her NCTJ qualification and boosted her portfolio with internships at Sky News and CJAD Radio in Montreal, Canada, and bylines for The Independent and The Times.

Alex Tompkins
With a thirst for academic challenges and a clear focus on becoming a solicitor, Alex’s career so far has taken him from the United Nations in New York, to a top ten law firm in the city, followed by securing a training contract in an international firm. And it all started at Plymouth.

Rachael Walsh - LLB Law graduate

It was during my second year that one of my lecturers recommended that I attend a debate in London on the issue of the death penalty. I came home that night and I knew what it was that I wanted to do. Now, I represent defendants facing the death penalty.

Rachael works as a mitigation specialist in the State of Georgia.
